Yours truly has penned an article on Morbius the Living Vampire for the current edition of Back Issue Magazine. The article traces the character’s history from his debut in Amazing Spider-Man #101 up to the present day and includes interviews from Roy Thomas, Gerry Conway and Len Kaminski.
The issue’s theme is "Monsters". It’s loaded with great stories about the Marvel and D.C. horror comics of the 1970s. Click here for more information.
Pick one up from your local comics shop or order online from Twomorrows Publishing. And feel free to let me know what you think about the article!
Hi, I just wanted to let everyone know that artist Tony Rubino has a story in the new issue of Red Slime Magazine. Tony and writer Dan Rafter contribute a story called "Halloween in Hero Town" and I’ll think you’ll enjoy it as much as I did.
Tony is my collaborator and co-conspirator on Wildcard. You can still read Chapter One of that superhero story right here.
If you like superhero comics, please check out Chapter 1 of Wildcard, a book I’m doing with artist Tony Rubino. It’s completely free – click here to read Wildcard.
Fighting the bad guys? That’s the easy part. Starting a first job, living on her own and meeting Mr. Right? That’s the tough part for Elizabeth Bradford, A.K.A. Wildcard.
By artist Tony Rubino & writer Bruce Buchanan, with letters by Jared Rourke. Click here to read Chapter One of the story.
And feel free to send me any feedback you may have!
Space Westerns, a Web site devoted to , has published one of my short stories, "The Lawmen of Dos Diablos."
Two lawmen track down a dangerous criminal. It just so happens that one is a sheriff in Arizona circa 1890, while the other is a policeman from a distant galaxy.
If you like sci-fi with a little western flair, check it out.
Thanks,
Bruce
My article on the New Mutants comic book series appears in the brand-new issue of Back Issue magazine.
In it, I explore the history of this classic comic book series of the 1980s, from its creation by Chris Claremont and Bob McLeod through the Bill Sienkiewicz era to Claremont leaving the book and Louise Simonson taking over the writing duties to the end, which introduced Rob Liefeld to the X-Men universe.
If you aren’t familiar with Back Issue magazine, it is the definitive source on comics from the 1970s and ’80s. This is my first assignment for them — the first, I hope, of many to come.
You can find Back Issue at almost all comic book shops, as well as online at http://twomorrows.com/
We continue our series of back issue reviews over at Samruby.com by focusing on one of the Web-Slinger’s most sympathetic but deadly foes — the Lizard. The first couple of reviews already are posted and we’ve got more to come, so check ‘em out!
If you’ve been following "Brand New Day" in Amazing Spider-Man, you’ll know that an ancient, petrified stone tablet is at the center of the current storyline.
The original "Ancient Tablet" story on took place back in 1969 in Amazing Spider-Man #68-75. Over at Samruby.com, I am reviewing this story, which many remember as a highlight of the Stan Lee/John Romita era.
Be sure to check out my other Spider-Man back-issure reviews as well!
Over on Samruby.com, we are reviewing Spider-Man’s adventures during the 1970s. Currently, we are examining the Web-Slinger’s earliest encounters with Ka-Zar, the jungle lord of the Savage Land. We also just finished a look back at some stories featuring Spider-Man’s most frightening villain, Morbius the living vampire.
Check it out here!
The Fall 2007 issue of A Thousand Faces, the quarterly journal of superhuman fiction is now available with nine new short stories.
And I didn’t write any of ‘em. But I do like this magazine a great deal.
However, you can still order a copy of A Thousand Faces #1, which features my short story "Wildcard", here!
